about
more than 20 years Yvonne Schneider is working on her language of painting. The process begins intuitive, without clear plans of colour or subjects. Between glaze and denseness, between graphic elements and various methods of print the work grows slowly up. Effects of raster made by silk-screen print enlarge the different structures of the picture’s surface. Step by step another coat is placed down. Transparency documents this process, but in confront with disguise in material way as well as in content a tension is created. The “things” in her picture - always more form than single meaning - are looking for a place in the world of painting and develop new dialogs.
Schneider puts well known things in new colourful connections, forms new movements, dynamic structures and meanings and raises again the question: What is reality?
All paintings are made in mixed media (oil, tempera, screenprint-elements) on fiberboard or acrylics
